It was really cool getting to hear from someone as experienced as Wormser, given that he has worked in nearly every avenue of sports production. What really amazed me, though, was that it quite literally took him 30 minutes to describe his professional journey. It was crazy to hear how each job was interconnected with the other and how they have all contributed to a full circle-type situation. To think that he started working at the age of 14 is amazing as well, and I can only imagine how ambitious of a kid he had to be in order to do so. Overall, I think the message that Wormser gave that will resonate with me the most is to “never say no.” When he first said that, I’m not going to lie, it seemed pretty intimidating. But, he said it with such urgency and meaning that I know it will be the only way to find success. I also don’t think he said it with any intent to scare us, but rather to ensure that we take every opportunity handed to us. Wormser knew first hand that nothing is guranteed and who knows what could come of it. This became a reality for Wormser himself when he got the call to work the World Cup; I’m sure it seemed complicated at the time, but he owed it to himself to take that opportunity. Also, in regards to Wormser’s World Cup opportunity, I was really touched by the advocacy his boss put in for him. That level of care and respect professionally is something that I strive for in relationships within my life. Furthermore, I hope to emulate Wormser's balance of prioritizing other people while also being able to produce quality work.
